Robin van Persie was spotted wearing Manchester United shin pads during Vincent Kompany’s Man City testimonial on Wednesday evening.
The former Arsenal and Red Devils striker was playing for the Premier League Legends as they took on a City Legends side in a match which celebrated Kompany’s 11-year spell at the Etihad.
And Van Persie turned back the clock with an assist and a stunning curling equaliser in an entertaining 2-2 draw.
Scoring against City will have done much to further endear Old Trafford icon RVP to the United faithful – but he also did something else that Red Devils fans are sure to love.
Eagle-eyed supporters noticed that Van Persie was wearing Man United shin pads when he took to the Etihad pitch.
It was a brave move from Van Persie, who was joined on the Legends team by other United greats in Gary Neville, Nicky Butt, Michael Carrick, Paul Scholes and Ryan Giggs.

Van Persie spent three seasons at United, where he’s fondly remembered for scoring 26 times as they won their most recent Premier League title in 2013.
The former Netherlands international left Arsenal after eight years to join the Red Devils in 2012, and his show of love towards United is sure to have angered Gunners fans.
